2021 Daylily Activities - I did rearrange the daylilies at the end of the street out front on April 10-12 and along the brick wall in the back yard on April 17-20.  So now the daylilies out front are now one single row rather than 2 and the daylilies along the brick wall are now 2 rows rather than 3 rows.  This will give the daylilies better spacing.  I also removed the super aggressive South Seas from these beds and placed them in a bed of their own out front ... if they crowd each other out so be it ... leave the other innocent daylilies alone!  All this rearranging (transplanting) will delay the blooming another week or two ... but well worth it in the long run.

One thing I did do this year was give 5 to 10 daylilies each to 8 friends ... in part to make room for new varieties ... in part to share my love of daylilies with others!

Schreiner's Gardens (received 06-20-21) - Blue Eyed Phantom, Bowl of Sunshine, Cape Coral (bloomed 07-30), Daringly Different, Full of Treasure (bloomed 07-30), Janet and Bill, Kindling the Flame, Nicole's American Beauty, Over Heated, That Thing You Do.  Only 2 out of 10 varieties bloomed the first year ... perhaps I shouldn't have covered them with 30% shade cloth to protect them from the summer heat since they were planted in mid June ... just a thought.

Schreiner's Gardens (received 09-18-21)  - Bluegrass Memories (bloomed 12-11), Buntyn's Hot Diggity Dog (bloomed 10-27), Chasing Ghosts, Coconut Grove (bloomed 12-03), Dance with Somebody (bloomed 11-13), Executive Order (bloomed 10-25), Green Turtle Key (bloomed 11-11), Hanalei Bay (bloomed 10-26), Honey Melon (bloomed 10-08), Magician's Magic, Mesmerizer (bloomed 11-08), Outer Space (bloomed 10-23), Pleated Pumpkin (bloomed 10-19), Prickly Sensation (bloomed 10-28), Red Chile Rendezvous (scape forming), Spacecoast Tiger Tango (bloomed 11-25), Unforgettable Glow (a scape formed but buds fell off before blooming).  So 14 out of 17 varieties planted late fall actually bloomed the first year ... amazing!
